At the beginning of 2015, Coco Gelato was only an idea for two business men in Nelson, Lancashire. Their vision and passion would drive them to create an authentic Italian Gelato parlour, capturing business from all over.

Where did they start?

Top Story – Coco GelatoThe two Directors of the business began researching what was required in setting up an ice cream parlour and who the relevant suppliers of both equipment and ingredients would be. For their equipment, they chose Taylor UK and for their ingredients they chose Caterlink. Both companies being in a great position to provide initial advice and guidance through to complete project management and on going support.

Initially, the Coco Gelato team visited the Taylor UK demonstration kitchen where they learnt how straightforward gelato production could be, going through the full process from base ingredients; milk, cream, sugar etc. and turning it into a range of great flavours in a short period of time. This cemented the idea with them and once the Coco project was up and running, Taylor UK arranged for them to attend a more advanced Gelato training course in Italy which is hosted by Frigomat, Taylor’s artisan ice cream equipment partner, at their factory near Milan, Italy.

“We had our own Taylor UK project manager who assisted every step of the way; helping to source the best equipment, advice on the correct displays & counters, and help finding suppliers for both ingredients and ‘all those other little bits’.”

Coco Gelato opened it’s doors in early 2016, the culmination of a year of researching, planning and building. The Taylor UK team had helped them all the way from advice, equipment delivery (including getting the equipment into the store through a window 20 foot in the air!), through to the onsite commissioning and training on the batch equipment.

The future…
