…but it doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing!

Mark Harrison has owned and operated The Ice Box in Maldon, Essex for over 20 years. It’s a business he never tires of and enjoys an amazing ‘office window’, a view that many of us would love to look out on each day we go to work!

Serve soft ice cream cones all day, everyday!

Mark started the business selling food, cold drinks, wrapped ice creams and the one we all love ‘Mr Whippy’. Back in the 90’s one of his first machines was a Taylor 8752, a true work horse in its day. The machine just simply worked and worked producing a fantastic product for their customers, a machine you could definitely rely upon when it gets very busy.

Unfortunately all good things come to an end and when the Taylor 8752 finally came to the end of its life, there was only one thing for it… a new Taylor machine!

This time Mark opted for the Taylor C708, a new breed of soft ice cream freezer that offers new features that were not available on the old Taylor 8752.

Mark explains; “The self-pasteurising feature gives us fourteen days between cleaning cycles, this has had a great impact on the business by reducing the time spent cleaning the unit which in turn has reduced the wastage that naturally occurs when you clean the machine. This all adds to my bottom line profits”.

Mark added; “My business has gone from strength to strength over the years, so much so that I now have two Taylor C708’s operating everyday to cope with the high demand we get here in Maldon. My customers love the ice cream I sell because it’s unique and very different to anybody else’s!” It’s a special recipe which I have developed over the years – one you cannot buy anywhere else! It’s a bit like the famous chicken shop… only I know the secret recipe!”
