Since May 2017, The Shed has always been more than just an artisan beachside eatery. Sheltered beneath the picturesque cliffs at the far end of Laxey Bay on the Isle of Man, it’s become known as the seaside destination to keep you cosy. Whatever the season.

From Lollies to Gelato…

In May 2017, husband and wife team, Beverley and Richard Clegg opened The Shed, Laxey’s double award-winning artisan beach-side eatery. In early 2022, the Shed expanded to become The Gelato Shed…

Frozzd at The Gelato Shed

We asked Beverley a few questions…

Why did you choose the Taylor UK?

“Two reasons; reputation and the fact that they had been recommended to us following Gelato training which we had with Antonelli.” Bev added, “Martin the sales manger was quick to respond and they were happy to deliver to the Isle of Man, which made a big difference.”

Why did you choose to add Gelato to you offer?

“We originally set up Frozzd producing ice lollies using only natural ingredients. This has proved very successful therefore the next obvious step was to move into making our own Gelato.” Bev continued, “The opportunity came up to take on the building next door on the promenade, this gave us enough space to open up the Gelato Shed”.

Are you happy with your decision?

“Yes, the beach-side operation wasn’t previously able to offer ice cream. So being able to make our own, using locally source, natural ingredients fits with what we were already doing and has allowed us to expand our customer offer.”

Has the equipment changed your business?

“Yes, the equipment has enabled us to expand and move into wholesale, supplying other ice cream parlours on the island who also buy our ice lollies.”

Do you have any additional comments?

“The help, support and advice which we were given by the team at Taylor UK made our purchasing decision easy. It was really great that Martin and Tom made the effort to visit the island in person to make sure everything was OK.”

Frozzd now produce approximately 50 napolis each week which they sell in their own outlets and to other ice cream parlours on the island.
