When Francesco Rossi founded the company in 1963, he could never have imagined that ISA would become one of the world’s leaders in the manufacture of professional ISA refrigerated displays and storage solutions.
During this time and right up to today ISA has become synonymous with quality, unique design, aesthetics, ecological awareness, energy saving technology and innovation, all of which have gained it many ‘firsts’ in it’s sectors, namely:
  • The first refrigeration company to bring cutting edge design to the world of gelato displays.
  • The first to design and angled display case whilst maintaining the quality of workmanship and materials.
  • The first to build a fully automatic showcase with a unique 360º transparent display.
  • The first refrigeration company to gain the ISO14001 standard for environmental management.

The factory, based in Bastia Umbra, Italy, is made up of five production plants covering a total of 122,000  square metres; 5,000 of these given over to research and development here 43 technicians are constantly involved in enhancing the existing range and creating new technology and cabinetry for future needs. four climate chambers allow all ‘project designs’ to be fully tested before going into production.

With this level of commitment and investments it’s no wonder that over 10,000 pieces of equipment are manufactured for use in Italy and exportation to 83 different countries every year.
ISA’s manufacturing facilities meet all applicable ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality and environmental standards. In addition and inline with ISA’s Ecological Projects, all new cabinets are 100% HCFC-free and use HCFC-free polyurethane for insulation.

For ISA, sustainability is not limited to just the products it manufactures, but it is much more. It is also about the production process and above all it is respect for the personnel who work in the factories and the environment in which we live.

You, as a consumer, can help make a difference by choosing to purchase a refrigerated display, storage cabinet or custom project which is manufactured in a more sustainable way and only use eco-friendly refrigerants such as R290 Propane or R744 Carbon Dioxide.

ISA Refrigerated DisplayMany ISA products are now available in the ‘Air version‘ that uses natural CO2 refrigerant instead of traditional refrigerant fluids: a cutting-edge technological solution, made possible by years of research and development on the use of new eco-friendly refrigerants and that opens new horizons in terms of eco-sustainability, containment of harmful emissions and respect for the environment without sacrificing performance and cooling efficiency.

The future is in the air…

In 2020, the new European F-Gas regulations come into effect making the use of R404 refrigerants unlawful in newly manufactured equipment. By the end of 2022, ‘drop-in’ replacement refrigerants for R404, such as R452, will also be phased out.

ISA is committed to reducing the use of refrigerants with high Global Warming Potentials (GWP) well before the legislation comes in to effect.
