Taylor UK has helped the Time Out Restaurant at West Suffolk Hospital cut their customer waiting times by speeding up its front of house service thanks to the introduction of a TurboChef i3 rapid cook oven.
West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds prides itself on the quality of the food it serves to all its customers but following a customer survey a problem with speed of service was identified. The busy Time Out Restaurant, used by staff and visitors alike, suffered from the same problem a lot of operators have. Queues would regularly form at the hot snack area, serving hot deli sandwiches, savoury slices & sausage rolls. At busy times customers would just walk away without purchasing anything as it was taking far too long.
There were two options available to them; either add additional cooking facilities to the hot snack area or find a faster method of heating and cooking their hot snacks. As budget, space and the age of their existing equipment was an issue, Catering Manager Brodrick Pooley searched for the perfect solution…
After contacting Taylor UK and following a conversation with their local Taylor Sales manager, a bespoke demonstration session was arranged at the Taylor UK demonstration kitchen in Slough. Designed to show off the full potential of the TurboChef range of ovens, the demonstration highlighted exactly how their operation could be improved and waiting times reduced.
Brodrick explains; “I was sold straight away! After seeing for myself how exceptionally quick and efficient the TurboChef ovens are, along with their simple operation, consistent cooking standards and ease of cleaning”.
Brodrick went for the TurboChef i3; the oven was delivered and full extensive training was given to all the day to day staff by Taylor’s own TurboChef expert. Additional training was given to our Head Chef Steve which meant that new products can be programed into the oven by ourselves with the security of having help at the end of a phone if we need it.
The addition of the TurboChef to the food service operation at the hospital has allowed them to extend their menu offering more options, keeping their regular visitors happy. They can now cook 12” frozen pizzas to order in less than three minutes!
“Feedback from my staff has been very positive. The time they save as they do not have to keep checking to see how the product is cooking and they love the fact it produces really good quality meals for their customers. All at the touch of a button! Our customers just can’t believe how quick the service is now” concluded Brodrick.
